David Freed – Topic Moderator for High Performance Computing

Dr. Freed started his career as a Physicist with Exa Corporation, working on the first commercial software using the Lattice Boltzmann Method for Computational Fluid Dynamics.  During his time at Exa, Dr. Freed worked on a range of topics including flow through porous media, multiphase flow, convective heat transfer, fluid-structure interaction, aeroacoustics applications, and blood flow.  As Director, Aeroacoustics, Dr. Freed spearheaded the PowerACOUSTICS product line for flow-induced noise applications, and later as VP, Oil & Gas, he developed and led the DigitalROCK product and business unit providing a cloud HPC solution for Oil & Gas reservoir core analysis.  After Exa was acquired by Dassault Systems in 2017, Dr. Freed managed the Energy & Materials applications for the SIMULIA brand.  Since August 2019, Dr. Freed serves as CTO at OnScale, a Silicon Valley startup aiming to make the power of cloud HPC simulation easily accessible to product engineers & designers everywhere.
